I have personally been watching the trends on the Internet. Being an Internet marketer, I have to – it’s my job. I have seen the trends and the future of marketing on the Internet, and the future is social media.
Sites like Twitter have grown faster than ANY site in history. Built on the very concept of “What are you doing.” There is so much money to be made on these web 2.0 sites, frankly it’s insane. No other time in history has it been so easy to make money online.
These sites like Twitter, FaceBook, YouTube, and MySpace have been evolving as mediums to market your online business – it’s the future of Internet marketing. Many people have seen this, but have started to abuse the concepts of how to market on social media sites.
Newbie marketers just do not understand how to cash in on these communities. If they just only understood the correct way on how to make money with social media, everyone would be happy.
Let me explain, as these sites continues to grow we are seeing more and more unwanted spammers cluttering our space. As I stated before, Twitter was built on the single concept of “What are you doing?” NOT “What are you selling.” These newbie marketers do not realize how much harm they are doing. They are actually wasting their time and efforts because no one is paying any attention to them.
You must think of these sites as Internet parties, and if you aren’t here to party, then you’re doomed to fail.
You have to think of the mindset of members in the community. Members do not come to social media sites to be sold to. Imagine going to a local BBQ with a big sign that says, “Buy Me.” People will laugh at you. They’ll look at you as the jerk you are. People come to a BBQ to eat, socialize, and have fun. They’re not there to be sold to.
You must learn how to socialize in social media – what a concept. You have to engage and have conversations. It’s about building relationships first, and then when the time is right, that’s when you can open to what you have to offer.
Imagine if you could make a dollar ever month for every friend you have on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and MySpace. Don’t think it’s possible? Internet marketers have been doing this for months now… trust me.
It’s all about building relationships. Just remember people hate to be sold to, but people love to buy.
