Social networking appears to be all the rage these days. But is it really effective for online marketing? Apparently yes! Many online businesses that are ahead of the game are using social networking to boost their business networking and build bigger subscriber lists.
Here’s how to do it:
1. Sign up for a social bookmarking website (or two)
Here are some popular social bookmarking sites to sign up for (you may already have signed up for some of them!): Facebook, MySpace and Friendster. My favorite at the moment is Facebook for its ease of use.
2. Start building a friends list
Start adding friends to your list that have interests that are similar to yours or related to your niche. If you want a bigger network, build a bigger friends list! Keep on adding friends on daily basis to grow your network.
3. Form contacts
It might be a good idea to build a list of general friends and one of your business contacts. Business contacts include JV partners and associates that you do business with. Start forming mutually beneficial relationships with them.
4. Contact your friends list
Let your friends list know about any developments on your side through bulletins or FunWall posts (a great Facebook feature). You can update them about new posts on your blog, a new video you created or a new PDF you have sent to your subscribers. Always let your friends know about your opt-in page where you build your list.
Social networking is a great way to build a list and generate sales when you work it right. So go out there and start networking!
